OpenAI's work with Shopify and Etsy is a good example of this shift. Through their Instant Checkout integration, AI agents can now browse, compare, and complete purchases directly inside a ChatGPT conversation. Walmart's integration with OpenAI's Instant Checkout feature is a recent and notable example.
